celebrate good times, come on!!

i had a good 21st! my parents were with me at midnight, which was really good... they sang to me and presented me with an apple pie as a birthday cake. thus started out the unconventional cakes i had today. i got lots of birthday wishes from everyone, which i did not expect- hm, facebook has its uses!! but everyone was really nice... i didn't expect it, and i was really touched by the number of cards and presents and hugs and everything that i got... thanks guys!

it was a beautiful day, we went for a coffee- me, lisi, vicki and div, who had come up from london for the occasion. they bought me a slice of pear and almond cake and stuck a candle in it and sang... and then we went back to get ready for dinner. i had booked for 20 people for dinner at Mandarin restaurant in Hockley. we had some champagne in my room- got some pressies- then went to the restaurant for some seriously yummy chinese food. mmmm............... the funny thing was we all had 'tou fu fa'- sweet beancurd for dessert, and vicki had asked the restaurant to stick a candle in it.... as kind of a birthday tou fu fa cake... which i am fairly certain has never been done before.. ever! more singing of the happy birthday song, then we proceded to dogma for some drinks. it was a really good, chilled-out night.... i had a good time, others seemed to have a good time too, everyone liked the meal, enjoyed the company and the chat. i'm really glad that most people enjoyed themselves!

got some really nice presents too, which is always good...!
