first time ever.

yay!!! yesterday i went and did some household maintenence.... i CHANGED A BATHROOM FIXTURE. how exciting! the shower head in the bathroom was corroded and thus fell off, which means that for the past week my housemate and i have been bathing under a sort of stream. there was no spray effect. i tell you, showers just aren't the same without a spray effect. the spray effect disperses the water so it falls gently on your skin, leaving you feeling refreshed and clean. in the case of a stream, the water comes down on you in a torrent, meaning that it bombards your skin, shells it with great force! the water ricochets off your skin, splashing all over the floor beside the tub. moreover, you have to move yourself from side to side under the merciless stream, so that the stream hits whatever part of your body you want to wash. it was most unsatisfying. for those who have yet to experience this, the presence of a showerhead is not to be underestimated.

anyway, yesterday a new shower head thing was bought. not just the head, but the whole thing, up to the bit where it attaches to the wall. everything had to be taken out, including the arm part that had supported the showerhead and from which the stream came. unscrewing everything from the wall, attaching the new, shiny, chrome one, screwing it on, hurrah!!!!!!!! it worked!!! there was a blessed spray!! woo hoo!!!

i've just realised the last paragraph could be interpreted in a dirtier way, what with the words 'head', 'spray' and 'screwing'. dirty minds, all of you!

so exciting, replacing bathroom fixtures for the first time...
