happy now, paul?
interesting thing about technology.
we have more time-saving devices, but less time to do the things we want. like chill out at the gardens, spend time with friends. instead the pace of life has increased, work demands- if u work in the business sector- increase, we are constantly contactable, work follows us home.
email is supposed to help us keep in touch, but what can't be manufactured is the will to keep in touch.
is the point of technology to let us get things done quicker, so we have more free time, or to get things done quicker, so that more work demands are piled on us?
don't get me wrong. email = good. except spam. spam = bad. [hey, if u guy called sam went out with a girl called pam, then their joined nickname would be spam!!!]
and this leads me on to my big rant of the day. punctuality. a lot of people nowadays are not punctual. we all have mobile phones. if u are going to be more than 10 minutes late, then CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 minutes is acceptable.but any more than that, if u KNOW that u are going to be late, let the person know. it is common courtesy, which is very uncommon indeed. making someone wait for u for long periods of time implies that their time is worth less than yours. what are u, some sort of diva?! call!!!! let them know!!!!! there is nothing more irritating. be on time, or call if u are going to be late. and don't set out to be late. what the hell, dude?!?!?!?!
we have also lost the ability to make plans with a set date and time. 'call me when u're there, and we'll see where we are at.' not to say that i don't do that, i know i do, i'm just making an observation, but even if i was ranting about it, the point of a blog is so i can be wonderfully blinded by my righteous anger to my own actions. so moral high ground/blatant hypocrisy, here i come!
in a completely unrelated vein, hospitality work has made me glad that hopefully in the future my degrees will give me a job that allows me to sit down at work. woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!
also, this was forwarded to me today- the birthday calculator. find out how long in months, days, minutes and seconds u have been on the earth, what day the mardi gras was in your birth year, how old u are to the mayans and what the moon looked like the day of your momentous birth!!

and i've just realised that i am going to be late meeting a friend for lunch because of my punctuality rant. but hey, i've msg-ed him to tell me so!!!!
