it occurred to me today that i would so hate not to see the humour in every day situations.

like the other day, when i was lining up behind this little old lady at the checkout counter in the supermarket. she bought some bags of flour, a couple of tins of food, milk, and a bottle of triple-distilled premium smirnoff vodka.

and yesterday, when laura, vicki and i were sitting in the cafeteria in the library, for a break between classes.
we spent it trying to tie jelly snakes into knots with our tongues.
when we started walking to class, we talked about 'friendly' grinding on the dancefloor in clubs, because apparently in nigeria u grind with your friends. 'grind' as in, what we might call dirty dancing. then we proceded to talk about the similarities between british people and ducks.

and today, when i went to meet my group members for my international finance coursework. our group consists of a french guy, a portugeuse guy, a spanish guy, and a little malaysian chinese girl who's on exchange from australia. the whole time i had a little smile on my face, because hilarities ensue when u throw 4 people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds, and who speak different languages at home, together.

french guy: [in french accent] how do u spell your name?
me: r-e-g-i-n-e. it's a french name!
french guy: yeah! it is exactly the same.
me: yeah i know! u know those little bracelets with your name on them?
french guy:...... uh... no.
me: you know, u can find them in shops, the ones with your... nevermind. well anyway, i could only find my name in france!
french guy: ah. okay.
portugeuse guy: [in portugeuse accent] ah! i know what you are talking about.
french guy: oh yes, i know!

yes, the humour in everyday situations. what would i do without them?
