update!

right, so me and my friend decided to walk up to the politics office, so we were walking across campus and there were policemen everywhere! there were some on the downs, standing in the middle of this wide expanse of open ground, and we could see some walking around in the trees, visible cuz of their flourescent yellow vests. and then on the way back from the politics building we collided into an amnesty international protest. it was a relatively small group, and they were saying:

"who let the dogs out?"
"bush, bush and blair!!!"

it was funny. they were being trailed across the downs by flourescent security, and it was such a small group (30?) that i'm sure the security swelled their numbers by half.

and i just met some police people walking around the courtyard of my hall, which is right next to the conference centre.
