wow, looks like malaysia.

it is during the hot days of summer that my apartment really comes into its own. the floor to ceiling glass windows and tiles in the living and dining room, the open-plan concept of the common areas that we curse in winter as we fumble with the heating is what makes it so great in summer. we get morning sun, so by the time the sun is high in the sky the living room is thrown into wonderful shade, a relief to get back to after traipsing around the city under the sun, in the baking heat. the large glass windows let in light, and the tiles feel cool on the soles of the feet.
and when it's 37 degrees outside, and hazy because of the forest fires in north-east victoria, can u blame me for staying at home, where it's cool- in my room with the fan i filched from bob whirring away, circulating air- and eating a bowl of fresh juicy blackberries with king island honey and cinnamon yoghurt- the best yoghurt known to man, which when coupled with berries that squirt their juicy goodness into your mouth when u bite down on them- yummmmmmmmmm.
the fridge is stocked with the best of australia's summer produce- fat round kensington mangoes, with their delectable orange flesh, white nectarines, valencia oranges, green grapes, blackberries, cherries............... i love australia in the summer!!!!!!!!
and as i walked to the tram stop from vic mart, laden with all that fresh goodness, i found myself thinking... well it would be worse. i could be muslim and have to wear a tudong [headscarf] and long sleeves in the heat instead the shorts and sleeveless cotton shirt i was wearing. thank goodness i'm not muslim.
and on that politically incorrect note, i will end this post.
